Tsukuba R&D Laboratory

Tsukuba R&D Laboratory

Tsukuba R&D Laboratory is located in Tsukuba Science City at the foot of Mt' Tsukuba. Tsukuba City, where Expo'85 was held with the theme "Dwellings and Surroundings-Science and Technology for Man at Home," is well known as the center of science and technology in Japan. Many research facilities belonging to government and private sectors are located here today.
The Tsukuba R&D Laboratory was established in 1989 in an industrial area developed by the local government. In this scientific atmosphere, the laboratory has played an important role in the research and development activities of the company. In recent years, the laboratory is boosting its presence as its contribution is becoming products.

Process Development Laboratory

Process Development Laboratory

Just 90 minutes from Tokyo, you will arrive at Shin-shirakawa by Tohoku Shinkansen train. In addition to the high-speed-train station, the process development laboratory is adjacent to the natural environment of Kashi Highland.
The laboratory has various types of test machines that are down-sized production machines, including the coating machine, paper machine, and RC laminator. Especially, the Multi Purpose Coater is one of the best equipped test machines in Japan with the latest coater heads.
The laboratory is equipped with printing machines, including a sheet-feed four-color large format printing machine, a six-cylinder from printing machine, and an offset rotary press. These printing machines are used for printing tests of our products.

Kyoto R&D Laboratory

Kyoto R&D Laboratory

Nagaokakyo city in Kyoto Prefecture has many sightseeing spots, such as komyoji Temple, which is famous for beautiful autumn leaves: Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine: and Otokunidera Temple. MPM Kyoto Mill, where the Kyoto R&D Laboratory is located, is just a few minutes walking distance from the city center. Since the city is a part of the ancient capital Nagaoka, which was built by Emperor kammu, many remains still rest undiscovered.

The Kyoto Mill was established in 1938 as Kyoto Photographic Industry Company, Ltd. In 1944, MPM acquired the company to form the Kyoto Mill. Since then, the research laboratory has developed numerous products, including photographic papers (Gekko®, Mitsubishi color paper), printing plates (SILVERMASTER®, Silver Digiplate®), and prepress materials (Mitsubishi One Step, phototypesetting paper and daylight contact film). The production machines of the Kyoto mill are not only one of the biggest in Japan but also have the capability of simultaneous multilayer coating. Based on our core technologies that have been cultivated for years, i.e. organic synthesis, diffusion transfer, and utilization of silver, Kyoto R&D Laboratory is continuously making an effort for the development of novel photographic and printing materials and innovative ink-jet products, to be manufactured by these machines.
